White base coat render – Baumit StarContact White

Product overview

Where is it used?

• Baumit StarContact White can be used to bond insulation boards to masonry surfaces and as the base coat for the render systems.
• Baumit StarContact White can be used to prepare coarse grained mineral and synthetic renders to receive a fine finish render.
• It can, with Baumit StarTex fibre glass mesh, be used as a base coat on render carrier boards.

How is it used?

• Baumit StarContact White comes in 25kg bags and is best mixed, using clean tap water, with a plaster whisk to a smooth lump free consistency or it can be spray applied.
• It’s ‘sticky’ nature means it is very easy to apply to a whole range of backgrounds.
• As an adhesive apply as either a perimeter and three dabs through the centre or as an even 3mm coat to the back of the EPS insulation boards.
• As a base coat or meshed coat, apply evenly with a steel trowel, making sure temperatures are above 5°C and out of strong sunlight.
• Comb the surface with a notched trowel to ensure the correct thickness of plaster has been applied.
• Whilst still wet, lay in the Baumit StarTex mesh and trowel until the mesh has disappeared.
• Trowel to a smooth finish with a steel float or spatula.

How much will you need?

Baumit StarContact has a density of 1.35kg per mm per m² (1mm thickness of plaster over 1m²). Each 25kg bag of Baumit StarContact White will cover up to 3.5m² as a base coat at 5mm thickness.
