UdiSPEED is a really tough wood fibre insulation board which is designed to give insulation but also to act as a carrier for renders and plasters. It’s normally used on the outside of timber framed buildings to reduce thermal bridging through the timber frame and also to give a surface to render on to. The great thing about this board is that you don’t need to have a ventilated cavity behind it, making the whole structure much simpler and more robust. We’ve used this product in school buildings specifically because it doesn’t break when its hit by a football or a cricket ball. The UdiPERL render system that finishes it is very tough and flexible too but also easily repaired if it does get damaged.
